The Kanoon Making Experience

As part of our mission to preserve cultural traditions and support women-led initiatives, we proudly offer the Kanoon Making Experience in the heart of Batloun El Chouf, guided by the wisdom of Khelte Rahija. This traditional craft, passed down through generations, involves the creation of the kanoon, a clay stove used to heat water for the yerba mate ritual. The kanoon can also be used for burning bakhour and aromatic herbs.

Spend time with Khelte Rahija, making your own kanoon while enjoying a traditional Matte and listening to her stories.

Maasser Donkey Farm: Reviving Tradition in the Heart of the Shouf

Maasser Donkey Farm in Maasser El Chouf is a unique project led by Chibli, dedicated to reviving his father’s legacy. As one of the few donkey farms in Lebanon and the region, it is home to 15 donkeys along with a variety of other farm animals. Together with Chibli, we’ve transformed the farm and his father’s story into a special tourism experience where visitors can immerse themselves in traditional rural lif

The Rural Farm Tour

The Rural Farm Tour at Maasser El Chouf offers a unique, hands-on experience of rural life. The tour begins with a traditional Matté tasting and local treats, shared with Chibli. Guests are then invited to crack pinecones to gather sanawbar before immersing themselves in the farm’s daily rhythm. They can groom and interact with the donkeys while listening to Chibli’s fascinating stories about them. Visitors also feed and interact with the farm’s other animals, including rabbits, goats, geese, hens, and turtles, and participate in collecting fresh eggs and milk.

The tour continues with a walk alongside the donkeys through meadows, picking seasonal fruits along the way to a treehouse, where guests can relax and enjoy scenic views. The experience concludes with a session on the distillation of edible herbs like lavender, mint, and more, where visitors learn how these herbs are transformed into fragrant waters.
